Advanced Wing Rotor Technology
InfraTidal’s open-flow tidal technology has no dams.
Generators are driven by Wing Rotors that turn very slowly
with high torque and are safe for marine life. Camera
Studies have shown fish swim through the rotors unharmed
like we walk through a revolving door.
These wing rotors do not need to turn to face into the flow,
but operate with flow from any direction and so do not need
a yawing mechanisms like wind turbines. They operate
efficiently even when the direction of tidal flow changes and
in turbulent water.
Tidal power from pontoons, jetties, wharves and
bridges
InfraTidal’s tidal power modules can be installed beneath
modular pontoons, in jetties & wharves or under bridges
over fast rivers and tidal estuaries.
Dispatchable Baseload Power
When combined with an energy storage system (such as
batteries, compressed-air or pumped-hydro) of relatively
small known capacity tidal renewable energy systems can
provide dispatcable (demand following) bulk, base-load,
zero-emission ‘Green Power’.
Least Cost Grid Power
Ultimately tidal power when scaled up and mature will have
a cost structure similar to hydroelectric power. ‘Long term’
(after amortization) hydroelectric power plants produce
power cheaper than any fossil fuel power stations.
